A law firm in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Intellectual Property Income Partner with extensive experience in global patent prosecution and opinion work, particularly within the life sciences sector. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in biotech and pharma, demonstrating comprehensive expertise in patent prosecution and counseling. This role demands a superior academic record, exceptional writing and oral communication skills, and a proven ability to handle complex intellectual property matters effectively.Duties and Responsibilities:Lead and manage global patent prosecution efforts, specializing in life sciences and biotechnology.Provide expert legal opinions on patent issues including validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate.Oversee all aspects of patent counseling, including drafting and negotiating licensing agreements and other intellectual property contracts.Develop and implement strategic IP portfolios for clients in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.Advise clients on intellectual property strategy, risk management, and commercialization strategies.Represent clients in intellectual property negotiations, disputes, and litigation.Build and maintain strong client relationships, leveraging any portable business as an advantage.Mentor and guide junior attorneys and support staff on complex IP issues and strategic planning.Stay abreast of developments in intellectual property law and advancements in life sciences.Requirements:Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.Admission to practice law in the state of North Carolina.PhD in biological sciences preferred.Minimum of 10 years of experience in intellectual property law, focusing on life sciences and biotechnology.Proven expertise in global patent prosecution, patent counseling, and licensing.Small amount of portable business is a plus.Education:Juris Doctorate (JD) required.PhD in biological sciences preferred.Certifications:Licensed to practice law in the state of North Carolina.Skills:Superior academic record with excellent written and oral communication skills.In-depth knowledge of patent prosecution, intellectual property counseling, and licensing.Strong background in life sciences, particularly in biotechnology.Experience with pharmaceutical and biotech industries preferred.Proven ability to manage complex IP portfolios and provide strategic legal counsel.Effective negotiation and client management skills.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning abilities.
