Preferred South Florida or Houston, TX areaSUMMARYThe Accounting Manager position reports directly to the Sr Director of Construction, Building Maintenance (BM) and Fuel Ops and is responsible for managing a team that provides accounting and financial support/analysis. The role will support four groups: Ryder Fuel Services (RFS), Real Estate (RE), Construction, and Building Maintenance (BM). The Accounting Manager will independently interact with external senior management/senior leadership for both external and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities include creating, maintaining, and enhancing recurring reporting/analysis in support of Ryder US FMS and SCS business segments. The Accounting Manager is also responsible for engaging Sr leadership and operational personnel to establish and clarify accounting policies in accordance with established processes and GAAP/Company policies for over $1B of Real Estate assets, $100M/Year in CAPEX spend, $20M/year revenue, and over 40k AP/AR yearly transactions. The Accounting Manager will prepare, analyze, and present the segment’s financial results to senior leadership and partner with them to develop financial models for new services and products to drive revenue growth.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSManage the daily operations of the accounting team, identifying and solving accounting and business issues as they arise.Develop and implement strategies to streamline day-to-day AP/AR functions.Prepare, analyze, and present the segment's financial results to senior management.File quarterly and annual internal and external financial assessments.Prepare and review variance analysis for both Ryder and external customers.Manage and facilitate financial/accounting engagement with various stakeholders.Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring effective training and development in accounting guidance and company policies.Support strategic planning and identify opportunities and risks through data analysis and modeling.Provide various reports and presentations, engaging effectively with stakeholders.Facilitate goal-oriented financial performance criteria/tools development.Ensure alignment with GAAP/corporate compliance requirements.Manage month-end, quarterly, and yearly accounting activities.Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations.Develop/enhance accounting/financial framework for supported groups.Coordinate with internal and external auditors for audit requirements.Lead organizational vendors/supplier management compliance requirements.Participate in ad hoc projects as needed.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms other duties as assigned.EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in accounting/Finance (required). Master's degree in accounting/finance preferred.EXPERIENCEFive (8) years or more experience in public accounting. WorkDay experience preferred.
