As a member of the CPNA Maintenance and Engineering team, the

Industrial Control Technician

directs the design and installation of new or replacement of low to moderately complex automation equipment, focused on downstream business, adheres to standards for reliability and guidelines for engineering. Ensures engineering drawings and technical information are kept up to date for equipment identified. This incumbent will be dedicated to the ASC plant locations and coordinate activities with the dedicated ASC maintenance team.The incumbent is also responsible for supporting the maintenance team as a technical support with daily activities on equipment and systems within the ASC plant sites.The Industrial Control Technician may also be tasked with supporting other maintenance activities across CPNA during breakdowns, line shuts, annual shuts or when the need arises.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Act as project lead on new equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and training.Lead or assist in feasibility studies for new robotic or automation equipment.Assist and interface with Plant Managers and ASC Maintenance Team across ASC as required on maintenance activities and project improvements.Support the maintenance, reliability, and performance activities to ensure equipment and systems meet their required targets.Train operations and maintenance users in new systems operations and maintenance activities.Research and investigate new technologies to decrease costs, increase effectiveness, and maintain business viability.Ensure all systems have secure protection protocols consistent with BlueScope standards.Support CPNA digital and customer experience initiatives to provide highly integrated technology solutions.Support other maintenance activities across CPNA during breakdowns, line shuts, annual shuts or when the need arises.Qualifications

Minimum:Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, or trade school in the electrical field.4+ years of relevant experience in an industrial control technician capacity.Experience designing, installing, and maintaining low to moderate complexity industrial control systems.Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.Solid understanding of control systems and automation principles.Demonstrated proficiency in PLC programming.Demonstrated knowledge of standard industrial networking protocols.Preferred:Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering3+ years’ automation/robotics/mechatronics project work.5 years or more of experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Experience developing and maintaining an asset strategy and reliability program for electrical equipment.Travel Requirements:

This role requires travel to ASC locations occasionally requiring day travel or overnight travel.Additional Information
