North End Music & Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC)
NEMPAC, a community-oriented music school and performing arts center rooted in Boston's North End, seeks an Operations Manager, with finance experience, to support its mission of enriching lives through accessible music education and arts programs. The Operations Manager will report to the Executive Director and play a crucial role in various day-to-day operating areas, including operations and human resources, outreach/partnerships, and finance.Responsibilities include managing human resources, organizational systems, program support, budget and finance support, and oversight of facilities. This role is great for an individual who likes working in a fast-paced creative environment, who thrives on multi-tasking, having excellent organization skills, and who is eager to support NEMPAC’s strategic plans to build capacity as a mission-centered community music school and performing arts center. Summarized responsibilities and role expectations are outlined below.We are looking to fill this position immediately. NEMPAC encourages BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and other communities historically underrepresented in arts administration spaces to apply.This position is hybrid, with 20 hours in-person at our headquarters located at 50 Tileston Street, Boston, MA 02113 - and 10 hours remote. There is high potential for this position to increase to 40 hours per week for the right candidate.Responsibilities:Operations & Human Resources (50%):Support equity-focused objectives in the NEMPAC Strategic Plan including hiring processes, building relationships internal stakeholder groups, and supporting collaborations with businesses, schools and organizations that share in our core values and believe in our mission.Collect and manage demographic information of stakeholder groups including staff, faculty, board, students, and professional artists.Facilitate equitable hiring processes and execute all employee onboarding and background checks.Manage payroll for 40-45 staff and teach artist employees, employee benefits, and retirement program administration.Implement inclusive business practices for community members with disabilities or specific accessibility needs.Oversee facilities and equipment operations.Update handbooks, health safety policies, and manage contracts.Troubleshoot CRM and software-related issues.Coordinate school partnership financial agreements and invoicing.Manage all third-party partner inquiries, collaborations, and contract agreements.Identify and build relationships with partners sharing values in arts education and empowering artists of all ages and abilities.
Finance (25%):Process vendor bills and invoices.Supporting banking responsibilities, including weekly remote bank deposits, check tracking, Venmo business account deposits.Work with the development team on donor pledge tracking and managing invoices through accounts receivable.Update organizational Impact number KPIs for reporting purposes.Collaborate with the Executive Director and Finance Committee on annual budgeting and strategic fund development planning.Handle monthly census filing and support annual audit processes working with the Bookkeeper and Auditor.
Qualifications:
2-3 years of professional operations, finance, and/or HR experience.Finance experience, with basic bookkeeping skills; Quickbooks proficiency preferred.CRM expertise and problem-solving abilities.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Basic understanding of payroll and state/federal requirements.Personal qualities: positive attitude, ambition, creativity, willingness to learn, and passion for making a difference.How To Apply:This position is considered full-time (30 hours per week).
