A prominent organization in the sports industry is seeking a highly skilled Director of Technical Operations to lead a team in overseeing the technical aspects of live sports broadcasting. This role is primarily technical, with managerial responsibilities, and requires someone who can manage and be hands-on with back-end engineering skills.Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor a team, including specialists in audio, video, digital, and engineering. Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff, fostering their professional growth.Technical Operations:
Oversee and be directly involved in back-end engineering, including fibre, cable, cameras, and broadcast centre control. Expertise in IP, wireless, and audio systems is essential.Broadcast Equipment Management:
Utilize industry-standard cameras and switchers, and manage the video playback system. Ensure all equipment is functioning optimally for live broadcasts.Venue Experience:
Preference for candidates with outdoor venue experience, though indoor experience will be considered.Required Skills/Experience:
7+ years' experience in live sports broadcast, television or sports production is essential.Strong experience in hands-on technical roles is essential.Strong leadership/management experience is essential.The ability to work in the office in New York is essential.
