ThayerMahan, Inc is seeking a principal research scientist in acoustics and signal processing at its Lexington, MA or Groton, CT. Due to our work with the U.S. Government, this role legally requires that you are a U.S. citizen. Qualifications

Candidates should hold a PhD degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics, preferably with 5-10 years of post-graduate experience. At the principal scientist level, the qualifications include: A broad theoretical foundation combined with some experimental/data analysis experience. The ability to develop and lead independent research initiatives. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Individuals must show evidence of: The ability to write research proposals and test plans. Prepare and deliver sponsor briefings. Author technical reports and open-literature publications. Responsibilities

The successful candidate should possess: The ability to lead a software development team. Perform acoustic and oceanographic data analysis. Advise the application of digital signal processing theory to multi-channel sensor array processing in a real-time embedded computing environment. Preference will be shown to those candidates with: Programming experience in C. Facility with Linux operating systems. A willingness to travel and support at-sea experiments.
