This position is a full time Exempt (salary) position, supporting the JBLM-Mission Training Complex (MTC). The Network Engineer provides network oversight of the Network Team. Coordinates all aspects of the communications architecture and exercise support plans with communications planners at other simulation facilities, the JBLM Network Enterprise Center (NEC), and participating tactical units.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:The Network Engineer shall act as the overall communications architect for the MTC with coordination responsibility with outside agencies and other MTC branches. The Network Engineer shall create/establish communications architecture, coordinate communications plans, configure communications equipment, and assist in installing equipment and circuitry in support of distributed training exercises. The Network Engineer coordinates all aspects of the communications architecture and exercise support plans with communications planners at other simulation facilities, the JBLM Network Enterprise Center (NEC), and participating tactical units. Plans include distribution of data, voice, and VTC over both LAN and WAN in both classified and unclassified modes for simulations/stimulation networks; NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and tactical networks.WORKING CONDITIONS:Position: Office environment along with some outdoor environment. Occasional exposure to natural conditions existing at different locations around the US. As required being able to lift 25 lbs. or more (Pending on type of equipment).Work Week: Monday-Friday (may vary based on mission requirements).Work Hours: 0730 - 1630 (may vary based on mission requirements).Overtime: As Required.Travel: As Required.The pay range for this position is $77,000 - $85,000/year.QUALIFICATIONS:Network Engineer must have a minimum BA or BS degree in Network management or a related field and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in Network architecture design and implementation.Shall possess advanced planning, troubleshooting and maintenance skills on the Microsoft server platform and CISCO router, switch and firewall configuration and SONET configuration/architecture.Will have a strong understanding of technology integration and information flow including LAN/WAN, firewalls, security, storage, and backup methodologies.Knowledge of specific product lines (Cisco, Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, Tripwire).Must possess an Information Assurance Technical II (IAT II) baseline certificate in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, SSCP, CySA+, GICSP, or GSEC).Must possess a Top-Secret clearance. Will also consider Secret clearance.Achieve computing environment (CE) certification (e.g., CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, etc.) within 6 months of employment.Experience in troubleshooting and supporting Cisco hardware.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Minimum BA or BS in Network Management or a related field.Must Possess a certification in Security +, Network +, CCNA.
