Senior Research Accountant

to join our

Research

department. This position is a full-time opportunity based out of our regional office located in

Rockville, MD with a hybrid work model.

Reporting to the

Director of Research Operations , the

Senior Research Accountant

will provide support to the Mid Atlantic Permanente Research Institute (MAPRI) for the maintenance and reporting of the General Accounting Subledger. You will be responsible for the accounts receivable process, the monthly close process with MAPRI and MAPMG, account reconciliations, grant research accounting, reporting and analysis and Research staff as needed, preparing monthly reports and supporting needs of the operations of MAPRI.

You can expect to:

Participate in the month-end close process - calculate and record entries in the general ledger; review and validate source data for all journal entries.Prepare and review journal entries in a timely manner for the Research Accountant Manager to reviewIdentify account trends and perform month end variance analysisEnsure general ledger and sub ledger are reconciled and reconciling items are resolvedCreate internal financial reports (operations, trial balance, and balance sheet) for reporting and review purposes.Partner with external auditors during audit periods

What is required:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting or Business Administration required; Master's Degree or CPA in progress preferredMinimum of seven (7) years of accounting experienceStrong interpersonal, written communication, problem solving, and analytical skillsAbility to manage highly delicate and controversial issues while maintaining confidentialityDemonstrated ability to lead professionals and manage others through influence and collaborationMust be able to commute to Rockville, MD on an as-needed basisCandidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan areaMust provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employmentMust provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $79,370.16 to $99,212.70 depending on circumstances including an applicant's skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary range above, MAPMG offers rich benefits that add substantial value to the total compensation package.
