Working Hours:Mandatory Pre-Camp Training and Prep: Beginning May/June (Dates TBD)Mandatory Counsellor Training: June 22nd, 26th, 27th 2024 (10:00am – 4:00pm)Camp dates: July 1st – August 23rd, 2024 (8:30am – 4:15pm)*Camp will operate on Canada Day (July 1st), but not on Civic Holiday (August 5th)*Contract Salary Range:

$600 – $750/weekWe are looking for enthusiastic and organized Unit Heads to join our Summer 2024 camp team. Unit Heads are integral to our summer leadership team and oversee a group of staff and campers within a specific age group (we call them Units). An interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) and/or sports and outdoor activities is an asset, but we are really looking for candidates with lots of experience working with youth and young adults, are strong leaders, and love camp!The ideal candidate:Has extensive experience supervising children in a camp/recreation/educational settingIs team-oriented and collaborativeHas experience managing teamsWill mentor and assist camp counsellors in providing campers with a fun and safe camp experienceWill maintain excellent rapport with staff, campers, and camp familiesIs understanding of the uniqueness of each camper and staff member and able to find ways to make everyone feel part of the teamRole & Responsibilities

Supervise and mentor a group of staff and campersInvolvement in operation and delivery of the camp dayTrain and evaluate counsellorsCommunicate with counsellors, camp families, instructors, and members of the Leadership Team on an ongoing basisLiaise between Leadership Team and counsellorsManage staff and/or camper conduct as neededRequirements

A background or recreation in teaching, recreation, early childhood education, or a related fieldPrevious experience in a supervisory or leadership role in camp or related field.3+ years experience working with children ages 4 to 14 in a camp or educational settingFull weekday availability in July and August and select training days in May and JuneConsidered an Asset:A background or education in science and technology, outdoor adventure, sports, or a related fieldAdditional Requirements:Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C (or willingness to obtain)This job may be funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP). The SWPP program requires that candidates be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
