The Development Director is responsible for developing and implementing key strategies for organizational growth and visibility in adherence to the organization’s vision, mission and values. This position is an opportunity to help a growing non-profit build strong, sustainable, and diversesources of philanthropic funding as we expand to new markets and deepen our presence within existing ones. The Director of Development will work with the Executive Leadership Team to research, cultivate, and manage grant opportunities, corporate sponsorships, and other fundraising activities.Major Responsibilities:Funding StrategyWork with CEO to develop a strategic fundraising plan that supports the vision of the organization and is responsive to various funding sources, including but not limited to foundation, corporate, and government grants.Research potential grants and develop profiles of funders, opportunities, and timing.Oversee research funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position Working Credit ahead of major funding changes or trends.In collaboration with the Executive Team, develop strategies and secure support for WC initiatives through creative, innovative events and giving opportunities.In collaboration with the Executive Team, develop a comprehensive development-focused communications strategy, integrating into Working Credit’s larger plan for a growing local and national awareness of WC’s impact and role.Communicate fundraising goals throughout the organization and with the Board to empower staff and members to participate in accomplishing WC’s annual goals.Funder CultivationOversee WC’s strategy and implementation for outreach to funders.Alongside Working Credit’s CEO, serve as a key spokesperson and bridge-builder with the organization’s existing and prospective funders and other strategic other stakeholders within various networks to harness resources necessary to pursue our mission.Connect organizational mission and results to funders’ philanthropic goals and ambitions.Represent Working Credit at presentations and one-on-one meetings.Manage annual Board give-get campaign.Fundraising Activities/Grants ManagementHave primary responsibility for development and execution of all proposals in consultation with CEO and other relevant staff.Partner with relevant staff to identify objectives, develop work plans, track outcomes, timelines, and monitor expenses for grant-funded projects.

Communicate regularly with project leads to provide updates and meet deliverables.Ensure timely and accurate reports for grant-funded programs.Ensure grant information and data is accurate, up to date and saved in Salesforce

Other Duties as AssignedQualifications and ExperienceCommitment to WC’s mission.A strong track record of achieving tangible fundraising outcomes in the financial inclusion, racial justice, or a related field, including experience cultivating and maintaining funders.3-5 years of development and/or philanthropy experience in a nonprofit, educational, or public service environment.Experience responding effectively to shifting and evolving fundraising priorities.Skilled communicator and relationship-focused leaderExcellent writing and communication skills.Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skillsAbility to listen to others and communicate honestly, responsibly and professionally; verbally, written, and electronicallyPreferredDemonstrated track record in developing and leading staff to achieve results.Ability to assess organization’ strengths, gaps and efficiencies, balancing health of organization with programmatic needs and functionsEntrepreneurial.Technologically savvy and knowledgeable including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce.Compensation:Working Credit offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience and skills.
