SUMMARY: Test, treat, diagnose, and monitor disorders and illnesses related to women s health and their reproductive systems. Perform exams and procedures, counsel patients, and treat women through their entire pregnancy terms, during childbirth and into postpartum. Provides care following medically acceptable treatment regiments using evidence based medicine.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Interview new patients to assess their symptoms, needs, or problems; record and utilize their medical history for diagnosis
Perform well-women exams that include pap smears, pelvic, and breast exams
Conduct follow-ups with patients to monitor and track their condition
Counsel patients on safe sex practices and preventative medicine practices
Monitor and treat patients during pregnancy and childbirth, including prenatal advising up to delivery and postnatal care.
Order and analyze necessary tests, screenings, biopsies, scans, etc. to effectively diagnose a problem
Direct, advise, and supervise women s health medical staff including nurses, physician assistants, med techs etc. on proper procedures and protocol
Continue personal education on current medical practices and innovations by reading medical journals, attending conferences, etc.
Evaluation, examination and treatment of patients within scope of practice deemed appropriate by center affiliated professional organizations
Maintains confidentiality of all client information
Takes after hour calls
Obtains privileges at local hospital(s)
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
M.D. or D.O degree from an accredited medical school. Completion of four (4) year OB/GYN Residency program. Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina. Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology or Board Eligible and plans to become Board-Certified within a reasonable time period. At least two (2) years practicing medicine in hospital or outpatient setting. CPR certification required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, patients, customers, employees, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Desktop PC, word processor software, fax, copier, and telephone. Proficient at patient charting and knowledgeable in relevant charting computer programs. Ability to develop and maintain personable yet professional relationship with patients and staff is required. Exemplary bedside manner. Sound judgment and expert decision making abilities.
