Software Developer

The George Washington University Libraries & Academic Innovation (GWLAI) seeks nominations and applications for acollaborative and service-oriented Software Developer.

Primary job responsibilities

Develop and contribute code to GWLAI’s locally developed software projects

Implement and continuously improve open-source and vendor software solutions. Some solutions currently supported at GWLAI include: repository systems, archival collection management tools, and discovery tools

Create integrations between GWLAI applications, vendor tools, and other GW systems to facilitate improved discovery of information, operational efficiency of the University, and facilitate research

Participate in maintenance, monitoring, and incident resolution for production systems supported by GWLAI

Learn and apply new software languages and frameworks

Support GW students, faculty, and staff through research consultations on coding and data topics

Manage projects using skills such as assessment, planning, facilitation, and communication

Create and teach workshops on a range of topics with a focus on enabling computational and data fluency for all

Communicate technical concepts effectively and inclusively to all, regardless of professional expertise of the audience.

Partner with GW students, faculty, and researchers on research projects

Collaborate with other software developers and LAI colleagues in implementing software solutions

Contribute to the broader professional community by sharing knowledge in scholarly/professional venues and through service to the University and the profession

This position reports to the Director of Scholarly Technology.
