About the Position:We are working with an innovative Chicago-based financial technology company that has an immediate need for a consumer finance litigation attorney (4+ yrs) to join its legal team as an Assistant General Counsel. This role is highly cross functional and requires knowledge of lending and fintech regulations, strong leadership abilities, the ability to manage consumer claims and suits, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments. This attorney will build strong relationships among teammates and business partners.Highlights:· Opportunity to join a collegial legal team of a tech-forward and mission-driven company· Company is dedicated to inclusion and diversity· Competitive compensation and benefits· Hybrid work scheduleResponsibilities:· Oversee the company’s consumer litigation matters, subpoenas, and other disputes, including pre-litigation counseling, fact investigation, discovery, motions practice, and dispute resolution in federal and state jurisdictions· Support the negotiation and/or drafting of contractual agreements, applying regulatory compliance requirements in legal guidance where applicable· Identify potential areas of risk with new or existing products and advise on how to mitigate those risks· Manage outside counsel and operational budgetsRequired Qualifications:· 4 or more years of consumer financial services litigation experience from a law firm and/or in-house legal department· Experience with laws and regulations applicable to consumer financial services, including Dodd Frank, UDAAP, GLBA, FCRA, FDCPA, and TILA is highly preferredLocation:Chicago, IL (Hybrid)Position Type
