DescriptionThe Mammography Technologist, under direct supervision, performs specialized examinations of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in women patients for our client facilities. Mammography Technologist may perform screening exams or diagnostic exams.Full timeThe Mammography Technologist is expected to practice safe procedures and adhere to radiation safety measures under the supervision of the Radiology supervisor or the Radiologist. Specific duties may include but are not limited to:Complete patient education regarding the examPromote privacy for the patientPromote comfort for the patientPerform diagnostic or screening mammogram as orderedPrepare for and assist the Radiologist in the completion of intricate mammography examinations, including breast biopsies.Produce high quality films for the radiologist to evaluateComplete appropriate documentationPerform quality control functions related to mammographyAssist in compilation and maintenance of statistical dataFollow infection control and safety guidelinesEssential Functions:Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.Maintain a high degree of accuracy in mammography positioning and exposure technique.Serve as the primary liaison between patients and Radiologists and other members of the support team.Use professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking when performing their duties.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Hire and train all mammo and Dexa technologists.Coordinate daily schedule at the Woman’s Center.Participate in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills for continued competence.Ability to work as a team member.Skilled in the operation of Mammography equipment.Attention to detail.Basic understanding of computer technology.Perform all duties using proper body mechanics.Frequently move/lift between 50-100 pounds, depending on assignment requirements.Stand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling and reaching to prepare equipment, materials or objects in order to provide patient care or maintain the patient environment.Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination.Ability to work in a stressful environment.Ability to follow directions/instructions from his/her supervisor.Consistent attendance is required to assure that the client facilities’ needs and patient needs are met.To comply with all client facilities’ policies, procedures and practices.RequirementsEducation:

Completion of a two year approved School of Radiologic TechnologyExperience:

One year full time experience as a Mammography TechnologistLicensure:

Valid state radiology registration as required by state lawCertification:

Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic TechnologyCurrent CPR/BLS CertificationContinuing Education: MQSA/FDA- 15 CEU’s every 3 years, 200-documented case numbers every 2 years.
