Geoscience Systems Analyst

in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Subsurface Technology business unit, supporting the Permian Basin. This position is located in

Houston, Texas.Roles and Responsibilities:Cataloging and maintaining data inventories to support projects being worked by the Petrophysics and Geoscience Teams.Loading and transferring data between Landmark Openworks/DSG, Petrel/Studio, ArcGIS and other applications.Understanding, manipulating, and qc’ing well and production data, log data and core data.Generating multi-dimensional maps from raw data to finished product often requiring complex geoprocessing functions and incorporating multiple data sources in a variety of software.Strong knowledge of coordinate reference systems, transformations, and spatial positioning.Creation and maintenance of enterprise tools including SharePoint and dashboards.Identifying, documenting, and communicating standards and best practices to the Geoscience Tech Support team and participating in knowledge capture and sharing.Education:Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline.Skills and Competencies:Minimum of five years of industry experience.Understanding of the fundamentals of petroleum geoscience.Strong technical skills in data management, geoscience, and engineering applications.Basic understanding of SQL/scripting and database architecture.Familiarity with Spotfire, PowerBI, and Sharepoint.Open to learning petrophysical specific software and databases.Demonstrates the ability to learn quickly, develop new workflows with minimal supervision.Innovative thinker with a desire to implement new ideas, processes, and technologies.Results-oriented with excellent time management skills and with the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and meet tight deadlines.Collaborative and a strong team player with effective interpersonal skills.Takes initiative for individual and group success, independently tackles problems, and assumes ownership of challenging work or projects.Ability to communicate effectively to management and peers.Committed to Oxy Values.Occidental is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
