Senior Accountant

Salary: $80k - $85k / annually

APM Music has been a crucial part of the experience for over 40 years with placements in the smallest of indie films to the largest blockbuster studio releases, national and worldwide commercial campaigns, TV dramas and sitcoms, sports broadcasting, video games, podcasts, interactive promotions, and user-generated content. If you can name the media, our music has been licensed for it. Our music can be found daily on platforms as diverse as Netflix, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Wondery, and Spotify.

Founded in 1983 as a joint venture between Sony/ATV and Universal, APM Music is the recognized leader in the production music industry with a catalog of over 900,000 tracks in every imaginable genre. Our music elevates any content and brings a story to life.

This is a Hybrid role and will work out of the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with lunch provided in the kitchen on Tuesdays.

The RoleThe

Senior Accountant

will collaborate closely with the Assistant Controller and various teams within APM Music. They will develop, interpret, and implement complex financial and accounting concepts, financial planning, and internal controls. This individual will also be responsible for creating financial reports, supporting the monthly and quarterly accounting close processes, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will assist in implementing process improvements, possess strong technical accounting skills and enjoy engaging with colleagues across the organization.

The Responsibilities

Daily interaction with multiple departments, often explaining accounting concepts to non-financial team members, including clientsFacilitate, participate and complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close proceduresPrepare and review various journal entries and account reconciliationsReconcile revenue reported in various systemsAssist in preparation of financial statementsMaintain adequate internal controls within the accounting processes to ensure well documented, accurate and timely financial reportingAnalyze monthly general ledger account activity, journal entries, and variances to forecastAssist in preparation of audit work papers for year-end audits with external auditorsPrepare AE packages each month reflecting revenue and sales incentive payoutsAssist with analysis and ad hoc reporting, forecasting revenue, expense and cash flows in addition to developing policies and operational proceduresAssist in supervision of accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing processes to ensure all members of the team are properly cross-trainedManage collections process, supervise collections specialist and prepare AR Aging reporting to ensure past due balances remain up to dateProcess expense reimbursements and other duties, as assigned

The Qualifications

Strong understanding of GAAP and full Accounting Cycle and at least 5 years of accounting/finance experienceMust be software savvy and able to reconcile data between multiple systems, ideally being proficient in all MS Office system and Microsoft DynamicsAdvanced Excel skills – i.e. vlookups, pivots, sumifs, etc.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively as a self-starterFlexible, strategic team player with high integrity and ethical standards, who is also able and willing to be “hands-on”Bachelors in Accounting/FinanceExcellent communication skills both verbal and written
