The Director of Music Ministry’s primary role is to work with the Pastor, congregation and church staff to plan and coordinate music for CLC’s worship services by employing a blend of contemporary, traditional, liturgical, choral, instrumental or other variations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide quality music before, during and following each worship service.

Work in partnership with pastoral staff to select music for all services of worship, funerals and weddings (upon availability).

Collaborate with a variety of professional and lay soloists, ensembles and choirs to provide worshippers the opportunity to be uplifted by the musical offerings.

Coordinate schedule of musical needs to coincide with the liturgical calendar and be present at additional and/or weekday services during Lent, Advent, etc.

Exhibit technical skills to produce audio files.

Potential leadership and development of choral or ensemble groups.

Assume responsibility for selecting and scheduling musicians for CLC’s Community Concert Series (2025).

Oversee maintenance of musical equipment, recommending routine and repair services, as needed.

Communication

Attend weekly staff meetings and meet individually with supervising pastor.

Openness to congregational and community feedback.

Clearly communicate expectations and needs when collaborating with other staff members, such as PR materials, social media postings and flyers.

Requirements

Demonstrated proficiency in piano (including sight reading). Ability to play the organ is desired.

An openness to diverse musical styles, formats, and performers.

Accountability

The Director of Music Ministry will be directly responsible to the Lead Pastor and will accept the provisions of CLC’s Personnel Policies.

Hours

10-15 hours per week. Attend weekly staff or other on-site meetings as requested.

Compensation

$40-$50/hour dependent on experience.
