The Northern VirginiaCommunity Outreach Director is a key member of the Impact team, dedicated to strengthening and helping to shape the future ofJewish communal life in Northern Virginia, one of the fastest-growing Jewish communities in America.This position is designed to enhance Federation’s presence and impact in Northern Virginia by fostering meaningful partnerships with and between community members, local and national Jewish agencies, Federation donors, congregational rabbis, and key communal leadership.Who you are:The right candidate is a dynamic professional seeking a unique leadership opportunity centered on knowledge of and appreciation for the Northern Virginia Jewish community.This personexhibitsstrong interpersonal skills,proven success in managing presentations and facilitation of internal and external stakeholders, and a desireto work collaboratively and effectively with team members at all levels.The right candidate is a strategic thinker withdemonstratedcritical thinking and problem-solving skills.Who we are:As part ofFederation’smodelfor building and sustaining a vibrant Jewish community,the Impact Department functionsat the intersection ofFederation’s community engagement,strategicplanningand philanthropic grant-making,andvibrant Jewishlife programming.The Impact team’s outputs are founded upon data-driven solutions designed to strengthen Jewish life in Greater Washington (DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia) and a flourishing society in Israel & Overseas.Primary ResponsibilitiesIn partnership with senior staff, develop a long-term strategy to bolsterNorthern Virginia’s Jewish community and institutionsCollaboratecross-functionally with a wide variety of teams across Federation,including Resource Development, Communications, Leadership, and others,to implement Federation’sNoVAstrategyBuildexpertiseas it pertains toNorthern Virginia’s Jewish communal goals, trends, opportunities, challenges, and calculated risksBuild relationships with keyNoVAlay leaders, synthesizing learnings to inform the greaterNoVAstrategyStrengthen the partnership with Federation and represent Federationwithlocal agencies and community organizationsStrengthenrabbinic and synagogue engagementinNoVAin alignment with Federation’s Synagogue StrategyMobilize andconveneNorthern Virginia professionals to foster connection and collaborationRepresent Federation atNoVAcommunity events with local agencies and community organizationsFacilitate and manage collaborative grass roots community efforts throughout Northern VirginiaSteward committees and task forcesrelativeto the evolvingNoVAstrategyDevelop internal progress reports around key performance indicators, benchmarks, and community engagement modelSkills and ExperienceNorthern Virginia residency strongly preferredMinimum7-10years of program leadership experiencein either customer service, relationship management, fundraising/donor cultivation,community organizing,or engagementStrong,demonstratedinterpersonal skills that enablerelationship and partnership building with community organizations,lay leaders, and professionals at all levelsDemonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenProven success in managing presentations and facilitation of internal and external stakeholdersProven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with team members at all levelsAbility to work proactively and independently, perform well under pressure, meet deadlines, and balance multiple requests at onceComfortable with and open to learningnew technologiesAdvanced skillsin in MicrosoftSuite, particularlyWord, Outlook,Excel,PowerPointand customer relationship management (CRM) platformsKnowledge of the Jewish community, its customs,and practices preferredCommitment to the mission of The Jewish Federation of Greater WashingtonA People-Friendly WorkplaceThe Jewish Federation of Greater Washington is an equal opportunity employer offering a people- friendly environment, including:Excellent health care and retirement benefitsGenerous time offFlexible work optionsOpportunities and an annual stipend for continued professional developmentAccess to the JPRO Network, which connects, educates, inspires, and empowers professionals working in the Jewish nonprofit sectorOrganizational Vision, Mission, and FunctionThe Jewish Federation of Greater Washington envisions an open, connected, and vibrant Jewish community that cares for each other, fosters Jewish learning and journeys, embraces Jewish peoplehood and Israel, and acts as a force for good in the world.
