Through inclusive hiring practices, we ensure a community of connection and belonging where everyone can thrive.Job Description:Loyola Blakefield’s Classical Language Department is searching for a caring, dedicated professional to be an integral part of a small but enthusiastic department. Loyola Blakefield offers a full complement of college preparatory and honors Latin courses as well as three levels of honors ancient Greek. The ideal candidate would be both willing and able to teach Latin in the high school at any level (up to and including AP Latin) and possibly ancient Greek. Interest in facilitating our chapter of the National Junior Classical League will also be looked on favorably as will a willingness to travel with students to Italy or Greece. We are seeking a candidate with openness to, if not experience of, a variety of pedagogical approaches. Given the variety of students’ needs and learning styles, the teacher will need to work collaboratively and creatively to support students. We currently use the Cambridge Latin Course for our college prep courses and Wheelock’s Latin for honors courses. Our advanced Greek students are reading passages from the New Testament.Duties and Responsibilities:Teach a full course load; 5 classes and emergency proctoringParticipate in co-curricular, service and retreat opportunities with studentsCollaborate and communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administratorsOther duties as assignedQualifications of Ideal Candidates:
