IHPS (Health Policy Studies)Full Time80507BRJob SummaryWe're seeking a Social Science Project Analyst who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with an in-depth understanding of the professional field. The incumbent will independently perform the full range of responsibilities within the function, possessing broad job knowledge to analyze problems/issues of diverse scope and determine solutions. As part of the California Labor Lab (CALL), this role will conduct research focused on summarizing current knowledge and expanding the understanding of how work affects health and wellbeing, particularly in emergent and alternative work arrangements. CALL is a joint project of the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (PRL-IHPS) and the UC Berkeley Interdisciplinary Center for Health Workplaces (ICHW), along with the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, the Labor and Occupational Health Program, and the Labor Center at UC Berkeley. The goal is to document health impacts of traditional and emergent working conditions through research and prevent or mitigate those conditions through outreach activities.

Research will include in-depth literature reviews, writing summaries of literature reviews and research findings, preparing manuscripts for publication, and managing the manuscript submission process. Other tasks include organizing, facilitating, and documenting convenings; participating in team meetings and performing other tasks as assigned. Work will be conducted at the UCSF Mission Bay campus and the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. Some work may also be done remotely.Please note:

This is an 18 months contract that offers medical, dental, vision, 401K & pension. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (PRL-IHPS) is an organized research unit within the School of Medicine (SOM). The primary purposes of the Institute are to advance knowledge of health services and health policies through basic and applied research; to contribute to the solution of health and social problems through the application of research findings to health policy issues at the national, state, and local levels.Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public health or social science field and/or equivalent experience/trainingMinimum 1 year of experience conducting researchThorough knowledge of qualitative research methodsSolid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and research subjects, both verbally and in writingSkills to analyze information and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detailSolid task management and multi-tasking skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and WordKnowledge of and experience with bibliographic softwareSubject matter expertise in occupational health or workplace policiesPreferred Qualifications
