Dexter’s engineers solve complex customer problems with innovative solutions, winning business based on quality, customer support, and application engineering expertise.Basic Purpose and Objective of the PositionThis position is responsible to lead the Value Stream team of machine operators and assemblers in an AS9100 and ISO 9001:2008 compliant shop.Major Responsibilities

Directly responsible to supervise and motivate the direct labor. Including but not limited to; staffing/hiring, policy adherence, time and attendance management (payroll), coaching, training, performance managing, discipline and termination. Maintain an acceptable level of quality, productivity and expertise required to sustain and grow the location’s capabilities.Maintain a safe work environment for all employees. Work proactively to eliminate risks in the environment.Responsible for the communication of daily performance using visual management and maintaining the value stream board containing KPIs, Root Cause problem identification and accountability/corrective actions and other pertinent information.Lead daily production meeting with direct reports- reporting KPI’s, counter measures and assist in providing solutions.Meet and exceed department KPI targets and implement corrective actions to achieve goals.Focus on improving employee behavior and skills in the following order: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Cost.Ensure that systems and processes are followed to meet or exceed the demands of customer quality and delivery requirements (including regular audits of gauges and in-process inspection forms and trend analysis). Develop and implement continuous improvement based on value stream mapping events.Provide data and support to production manager and external departments – be the subject matter expert on value stream personal and data, including process, gaps and problem resolution.Provide input to develop operation policies. Support business objectives and improve employee engagement and accountability.Responsible for inventory accuracy by conducting cycle counts and reviewing reporting for accuracy.Lead production staff by coaching, counseling, motivating and administering corrective action as needed.Plan, monitor and appraise job results. Direct and maintain activities designed to achieve and maintain high employee morale. Foster intra- and inter-department cooperation and teamwork.Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees through positive employee relations and compliance with labor law regulations. Assist with the hiring of new departmental personnel.Promote 5S (+Safety), good housekeeping and environmentally acceptable practices, assuring compliance with all local, state, and federal agencies.Assure timely utilization of equipment and materials to efficiently produce products that meet customer specifications and delivery requirements, while controlling operating costs.Identify problems and / or bottlenecks in production and communicate this information to Production Management.Works for continuous improvement by analyzing new or alternative ways to improve operations, incorporating staff suggestions into analysis. Utilize investigating process deviations, customer complaints audit activities and recommendations for implementing corrective or improvement actions within the department.Perform other duties as assigned or required.Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000 depending on experienceQualificationsEducation and ExperienceBachelor's Degree preferred.Familiarity with machining and CNC equipment preferred.Experience working within a value stream, or 1 piece flow production environment strongly preferred.A minimum of (5) years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.A minimum of (3) years supervisory experience.Understanding and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream processDexter Leadership Skills: People Leadership, Thought Leadership and Results Leadership.Mastery of Lean Manufacturing Tool Box: Value Stream Mapping, Facilitating Kaizen Events, Visual Workplace, FIFO, etc.Excellent problem solving skills: uses rigorous logic and methods to solve problems producing effective solutions to problem statements.Excellent time management skills: concentrating effort on priorities and overall planning, awareness and response to what is due now, short and long term.Strong computing skills: i.e.Power Point, Excel, Technical researching, ERP Data Analysis for buying patterns and the ability to read and interpret blueprints.High level of business acumen: Understands policies, practices, technology, trends and information and how those affect the business.Works in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentDemonstrated history in achieving production success through leading a continuous improvement culturePossess a working understanding of Lean tools and methods with respect to production environmentsEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
