The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is committed to detecting and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). LAUSD is the second largest school district in the nation with an enrollment of nearly 575,000 students. We serve an area totaling 710 square miles, with over 1,190 schools and educational centers, and we employ over 74,000 individuals, making us one of the largest employers in our city.

The OIG is recruiting to fill a Forensic and Support Services Manager (FSSM) position. This position plans, coordinates, and supervises the administration of specialized auditing and investigative activities. This position also performs professional-level forensic investigative and auditing work in connection with alleged waste, fraud, violations of District policy, and other complaints brought against District employees, vendors, contractors, and other entities under the jurisdiction of the District.

The ideal candidate for this position will be technologically savvy, a quick learner, and have extensive experience with informational and investigative research tools. They will be a motivated leader who is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of effectively managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously. The ideal candidate will also have an aptitude for reviewing and analyzing sensitive and complex financial data, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Minimum Requirements:

Five years of forensic accounting experience in public accounting firms, government agencies, or private industry.

Supervisory experience is preferable.

Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.

Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is required.

Certification as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is preferable.

Salary:

$133,703 – $166,583 Yearly

District paid premiums for your choice of several medical, dental, and vision for you and your dependents; and life insurance plans.

Retirement:

Membership in the California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS).

Vacation:

24 days each year.

Paid Holidays:

Up to 13 days.
