This is designated as an Essential position. BTI Security seeks to hire a high caliber of security officers who demonstrate professionalism and a solid commitment to protecting and securing our sites, staff, and clients.
Job Skills / RequirementsProtect the principal against possible threatsFederal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal propertyMonitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activitiesProviding detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents that may have occurredKnowledgeable and able to effectively use magnetometer and X-ray machinesUsing provided communication devices, such as two-way radios, in a clear and concise mannerLeverages excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation proceduresPerforming CPR or first aid when neededEnsure credentials are maintained per contract requirementsOther duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of ageBe a United States citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard)Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individual name and social security numberA minimum of two (2) years of experience security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US.A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable dischargeShall fluently speak, read, comprehend English and be able to compose written reports in EnglishMust be able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automaticStrong relevant knowledge of the security industryShall fluently speak, read, comprehend English and be able to compose written reports in EnglishExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust have a customer service-driven mindsetAbility to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customersPhysical Demands:
PSO’s shall be physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned dutiesFrequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, indoors or outdoors, during daytime or nighttime. Outdoor posts may require an individual to withstand extreme heat, humidity, cold, and/or severe weather (e.g., snow, sleet, rain, hail, wind)Frequent contact with the public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring an ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situationsAbility to remain on post for up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a breakAbility to remain alert for up to 12 hours, with the ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situationsAbility to use post-security equipment (handheld and walk-thru metal detectors, X-ray machine, CCTV)Ability to read Post Orders and assignments, b Lookout (BOLO), write reports, and respond to both routine and emergency dispatches/ordersAbility to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals or intervene in a crisisOccasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs
