Breaktime (www.breaktime.org) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit working to break the cycle of Young Adult homelessness by equipping young adults with the job and financial security they need to establish housing security. Roles and Responsibilities

Overview:

The Vice President of Development is a dynamic and visionary leader who will champion the mission of Breaktime and secure the resources needed to empower Young Adults in our programming. This role requires a strategic fundraiser who can inspire philanthropy and build lasting relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate partners. The Vice President of Development will be passionate about creating opportunities for Young Adults, possess a proven track record of fundraising success, and excel at cultivating a culture of generosity and impact. Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve annual revenue goals including doubling annual revenue over the next five years.

Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.

Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives.

Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors on development strategy and resource allocation.

Team Management:

Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing Development team.

Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback and support.

Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture.

Donor Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors.

Develop personalized cultivation and stewardship plans for major donors.

Ensure timely and effective communication with donors and supporters.

Communications and Marketing:

Collaborate with the Communications team to develop compelling messaging and materials to support fundraising efforts.

Leverage digital and social media platforms to engage donors and promote the organization's impact.

Financial Management:

Develop and manage the Development department's budget.

Track and analyze fundraising performance metrics.

Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress and results.

Travel and Representation:

Represent Breaktime at external events, conferences, and meetings, cultivating relationships and promoting the mission.

Travel as needed to meet with donors, attend fundraising events, and participate in professional development opportunities.

Grant Management:

Identify and pursue grant opportunities from foundations and government agencies.

Oversee the preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports.

Ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting deadlines.

Job Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Philanthropic Studies, or a related field. Relevant experience in lieu of a degree is always considered.

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in non-profit fundraising and development, with a proven track record of success in securing major gifts, grants, and other funding sources.

Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies.

Experience in managing and motivating a Development team.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to travel up to 60% of the time as needed.

(Preferred) Individual should have familiarity with database and information architecture, ideally with Salesforce.

(Preferred) Strong financial acumen and budgeting skills.
