These boards are highly integrated with sensors and next generation ASICs and include digital and analog high-speed interconnections with other sub-systems.As a Principal Satellite Electrical Engineer, you will lead the development of a sub-system collaborating with other hardware, software, and manufacturing engineers. You will be recognized company wide as the Responsible Engineer through prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production. Further, you will have frequent opportunities to test and operate your systems on-orbit.This position reports to the Director of Electrical Engineering and is based in Saratoga, CA office. In order to be successful in this role you must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed. Occasional travel may be required as well.What you'll be doing:
Develop PCBA requirements in collaboration with other engineering disciplinesSchematic capture and PCB layout using Altium DesignerCircuit analysis including power, tolerance, and reliability relatedPCBA design verification testing and system integration testingSupport production and manufacturingWhat you bring to this role:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent10+ years of experience in electrical hardware design including schematic capture, PCB layout, and testingExperience leading the design, development, layout, and qualification of a board or sub-system from initial concept through productionDesign proficiency with processors, FPGAs, switch mode power supplies, high speed data interfaces, precision analog instrumentation, and navigation sensorsExperience in high reliability component design and productionProficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and layout of complex PCBsProficiency performing circuit analyses in SPICE and ExcelDemonstrated success in a fast-paced environmentExtra points for the following:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalentExperience designing for space environmentsRF and transmission line design and simulation skillsExperience designing rigid-flex PCBsExperience with embedded software development for ARM core processorsThis is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office. The target base pay for this position is $150,000 - $220,000 annually. The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities.
