Underdirect supervision of a registered pharmacist, when assigned to an inpatientpractice area, performs those repetitive and manipulative activities whichprimarily consist of drug distribution duties, pre-packaging, maintaining theinventory in the Pyxis medstations (filling the medstation daily, checking foroutdates), IV and chemotherapy sterile compounding, record keeping(refrigerator temperature logs and hood cleaning), billing, housekeeping andsecurity functions.
Schedule:Varied hours, depending on department needs, including weekends and holidays
HourlySalary: $35.20
BargainingUnit: EX - AFSCME
Qualifications
CAPharmacy Technician license - Required.
2 yearsof inpatient pharmacy experience - Highly preferred.
Abilityto accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations.
Knowledgeof pharmaceutical generic and trade names and their dosage forms, and theability to cross-reference the most common drugs from memory.
Knowledgeof medical terminology and pharmaceutical abbreviations.
Skill inpreparing intravenous solutions using aseptic technique.
Abilityto work independently and follow-through on assignments with minimalsupervision.
Skill incomputer order entry of medication orders as well as other related computerentry tasks and computer report generation.
Telephoneand verbal skills required to communicate clearly and effectively withpharmacists, nurses, physicians and other allied health professionals.
Abilityto compound chemotherapy solution utilizing departmental guidelines for thepreparation/distribution of cytotoxic agents.
Abilityto lift 25 lbs and push 50 lbs
