Surgical Affiliates Management Group (SAMGI) is seeking an experienced and board-certified Trauma Surgeon to lead our surgicalist team as the Trauma Medical Director at Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX. This leadership role reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of our physician-led organization and collaborates closely with key stakeholders at the hospital to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care. Our commitment to physician work/life balance ensures a predictable schedule at this Level II Trauma Center, located in the beautiful coastal city of Corpus Christi.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation and execution for the ACS Verification site visit.

Oversee Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives, including the review of trauma mortalities and morbidities, with a focus on identifying and implementing areas for improvement.

Chair monthly Trauma PI and Operations meetings and ensure loop closure with subspecialty liaisons.

Collaborate regularly with the Trauma Program Manager to review PI projects and address any active workflow or clinical issues.

Continuously review and develop Clinical Practice Guidelines.

Represent the Trauma/ACS team at hospital leadership meetings, regional EMS committees, and other relevant meetings.

Develop and oversee the Acute Care Surgery Mortality and Morbidity process.

Provide mentorship and guidance to surgeons and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) on the team.

Qualifications:

Board Certification in General Surgery.

Surgical Critical Care Fellowship and Board Certification.

Strong communication skills and a proven track record of high patient satisfaction.

Demonstrated leadership experience in an ACS-verified trauma program.

A collaborative approach to working in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Predictable work schedule: up to 60 days per year (up to 5 – 24-hour shifts per month).

66 hours per month dedicated to the Trauma Medical Director role.

Focus on non-elective, Emergency Department procedures.

Full-time PA/NP support.
