Job Summary We are seeking an experienced structural biologist to support our drug discovery programs at Kimia. The key aspect of your role will be to obtain high-resolution X-ray crystal structures of protein-small molecule complexes to inform structure-based drug design efforts. Another part of your role will be to design, express, and purify proteins or protein-ligand complexes to enable structural and biochemical studies. This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative startup company and contribute to the discovery of novel therapies for patients. The successful candidate will play an essential role in supporting Kimia’s structural biology and protein science functions. Responsibilities

Obtain high-resolution X-ray crystal structures of protein-small molecule complexes (from screening crystallization conditions to data collection, processing, and model refinement) Be responsible for the production (from design to purification) and analytical characterization of recombinant proteins from bacterial and insect cells Independently perform complex experiments, manage and analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present data to senior leadership Collaborate closely with Medicinal Chemistry and Computational Biology to drive compound progression Contribute to long-term activity planning by exploring and evaluating new technologies related to structural biology and protein sciences Qualifications

Master’s or Ph.D. with an emphasis in Structural Biology ideally including experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry setting Expertise in all aspects of macromolecular structure determination of a variety of protein and protein-ligand complexes using X-ray crystallography Proficiency in large-scale expression and purification of challenging recombinant proteins is required, multi-protein complexes and membrane protein experience a plus Experience in characterizing protein reagent quality and function through analytical (DLS, HPLC, IEF, MS), biochemical (enzymatic assays, TR-FRET) and biophysical assays (SPR, BLI, ITC) a plus Documented ability to contribute and communicate impactful scientific findings Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team $115,500 - $153,000 a year

The anticipated salary range for this position is $128,000 to $153,000 for Associate Scientist and $115,500 to $148,500 for Scientist. The final salary will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job,typeand length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
