Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.Purpose of the Position:Lead an operations department to achieve safety, quality, cost, and productivity performance. Manage shift and MET teams to achieve and exceed targets.Day to Day Responsibilities:Lead team of skilled personnel to meet department production objectives in the areas of safety, quality, cost, and capacityChampion safety performance; Directly responsible for maintaining a safe work environment; Enforce all safety regulationsManage and develop department production and MET teamsQuickly resolve performance issues by ensuring clear ownership of responsibilities between production, MET, and engineeringOversee multiple equipment platforms, managing equipment yields and uptime to meet and exceed budgetEngage with adjacent departments to ensure strong cross-process performanceEstablish effective transfer of next generation product and process technologies to manufacturingEnsure department production capacity meets demand, both current and futureManage department staffing and overtime levelsEffectively grow team and individual skill levels, enabling continuous improvement and personnel growthUtilize employee performance metrics for communication and accountability to achieve targetsManage department spend within budget; Identify and deliver on cost saving opportunitiesDefine, manage, and support continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processesDevelop high performing teams through coaching and conflict resolutionEngage with department union representation to address/resolve issuesRequired Qualifications:B.S. in EngineeringMinimum 5 yrs. experience in manufacturingMinimum 4 yrs. Supervisory experienceProven ability to effectively lead and motivate production teams;

Create vision and execute changeSound decision making skills - ability to effectively analyze data from multiple sources and set directionAbility to handle/prioritize multiple tasks as necessaryDesired Qualifications:Experience working with production teams in a union environment.This position does not support immigration sponsorship.The range for this position is $119,558.00 - $164,393.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
