The University of Alabama at BirminghamThe University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Director of Development for Medical Education for the UAB Medicine/Heersink School of Medicine Advancement team.The primary responsibility of this position is to

generate increased private gift support from alumni, individuals, corporations, and foundations by successfully identifying, cultivating, and soliciting assigned prospects. Expected outcomes include intentional meetings with unqualified and/or qualified prospects to build and maintain a portfolio of high-capacity/net-worth prospects. The Director of Development will effectively collaborate with faculty, colleagues, and staff both within their unit and across campus to maximize philanthropic efforts.Duties & Responsibilities:This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Development within the Heersink School of Medicine.This position is full-time, hybrid eligible after the probationary period.Responsibilities:Interface with Deans, Department chairs, and facultyDevelop and implement fundraising strategies and plansRaise major gifts from multiple donor groups (alumni, corporate/foundations, community, grateful patients)Strategically build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospectsWork with physicians and medical faculty in developing and executing plans to cultivate and solicit grateful patientsPerform other duties as assignedAnnual Salary Range:

$70,425-$85,000QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a related fieldMinimum 5 years of higher education fundraising or equivalent experienceMinimum of 2 years of major gift experienceWork experience may not substitute for education requirementDriver’s License requiredPreferred Additional Qualifications:CRM usage and managementPolitical Acumen/Social AwarenessAdvanced Project ManagementKnowledge of HIPAA-compliant fundraising practices in healthcare philanthropyUAB Benefits:UAB offers a robust state-funded pension plan through the Alabama Teacher's Retirement System, a generous 5% retirement match in voluntary accounts, and additional RSA benefits.
