Apple Services Engineering (ASE) Live Stream Engineering team is looking for a Live Streaming Engineer to join our Services team. Our services power experiences in the Apple TV app on Apple platforms and 3rd Party TVs. You will contribute to architectural discussions, build performant solutions, and participate in team development and knowledge growth. You will be a domain expert for live content acquisition and delivery. You will collect high-level project requirements, take ownership, and deliver outstanding software. You will work cross-functionally with internal teams to build our live streaming platform and develop/rollout new features. Interface with streaming vendors on proof-of-concept evaluations for new features. This role will also provide support to our live streaming NOC for live event and platform escalations. Support will entail live video delivery and encoding services. This role is part of the team responsible for setup and maintaining live encoding workflows. You will also work with client and server teams to ensure features are performing as expected across devices. You will partner with the other teams within the Live Stream Engineering team to diagnose and troubleshoot live delivery issues with urgency. Troubleshoot complex partner and vendor integrations. Provide feedback for playbooks, RCAs, and integration specifications.Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of demonstrated ability in video technology as an architect/engineer with focus on live delivery support5+ years of proven experience integrating complex video workflows with partnersKnowledge of and ability to influence technology decisions regarding video playback technologies, Digital Rights Management, HTTP Live Streaming, video acquisition and distribution, monitoring and reportingStrong understanding of broadcast transport technologiesFamiliar with livestream ad-insertion technologiesComfortable with command line tools (chmod, curl, grep, ssh, scp)Experience working with observability tools (Grafana, Kibana, DataDog)Proven experience sharing and communicating information to different audiences across an organization to gain alignmentExperience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment**This role will require after-hours and weekend support**Preferred Qualifications

Some scripting experience (Python, Bash)Familiar with data interchange formats (XML, JSON)Familiar with RESTful API utilization and debuggingFamiliar with SCTE-35/104 and SCTE-224/ESNIExperience analyzing system logsBS/BA in Video/Broadcast Engineering or equivalent.At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
