Global Biologics Technical Operations (formally Global Biologics Technical Development) is searching for an experienced Head of Digital Products. The ideal location would be Portsmouth (NH, USA) but it could also be another large site in the Lonza Biologics network. This individual will lead the Global Biologics Digital team and sub teams to ensure the Biologics division continually evolves digital systems and technologies to operationally and technically advance our Development and Manufacturing services. This will include a significant focus on data and how it is managed across the division, to ensure the division has a clear digital strategy and the operational sites are highly coordinated to deliver that strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Accountable for delivering the digital strategy for Biologics that aligns with overall Divisional business goals.
Assist the Digital Strategy lead with development of the Divisional Strategy.
Accountable for the implementation and performance of all digital services and products within the division, ensuring they align with strategic objectives and deliver value to the business and its customers.
Responsible for the deployment of new services/products alongside their Group Ops, R&D and IT/OT counterparts.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for digital innovation and process optimization.
Defines the Lonza Biologics Standard Digital system/s for sites and aligns with Group functions.
Responsible for the maintenance and evolution of the computerized systems to ensure systems are managed in an agile way.
Collaborate with the Digital Site Leads to ensure Network digital alignment and consistent strategy.
Implement digital solutions to enhance efficiency, quality control, and overall operational excellence.
Provide decision support through data-driven insights to enhance operational decision-making.
Ensure the business and information architecture has a strong focus on business outcomes related to growing revenue, optimizing costs and mitigating risks.
Lead change management initiatives to drive digital transformation across the business division, ensuring smooth adoption of new technologies and digital processes by managing resistance, communicating benefits, and aligning digital changes with organizational culture.
Accountable to develop and implement training programs to enhance digital literacy and skills across the division.
Member of the Lonza Digital Council.
Other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Preferred area of study in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science or Related Science Fields.
10+ years of experience in Biopharma and/or Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing.
7+ years of experience supervising direct reports and ability to lead and manage organizational change effectively, considering impact of digital initiatives on people, processes, and culture within the biopharmaceutical manufacturing setting.
Preferred Agile/SCRUM certification.
Broad knowledge about digital technologies such as mobile technologies, Internet of Things, Data Science, cybersecurity, etc. in the context of manufacturing (Laboratory Digitalization, Shopfloor Digitalization, Digital Process Monitoring, Digital Tech transfer, MVDA etc).
Good understanding of agile delivery methods.
Innovation Management methods incl. development of Business Models & Business Cases.
Good understanding of regulated environments and related challenges for digital transformation projects.
Proven experience with IT Security topics in the context of digitalization.
Leadership to drive innovation and digital transformation agenda aligned with business goals and industry trends, fostering a culture of experimentation, learning, and adaptation within the organization.
