Bloomberg runs on data, and in Data we're responsible for acquiring and providing it to our clients. We collect, model, analyze, and publish data which is the backbone of the Bloomberg Terminal. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, and we implement solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes- all while delivering advanced insights to our clients. We’re responsible for delivering this data, news and analytics through innovative technology - quickly and accurately!

Our Bloomberg Municipal New Issues team is responsible for the timely and accurate updates on new municipal bonds coming to market, as well as extensive client facing support. In addition, responsibilities include developing new data pipelines, implementing data validations, reviewing processes for efficiencies, and finding opportunities to expand data sets. Our New Issues team also works closely with internal consumers of our data including, News, Evaluated Pricing, and Index teams.

What’s the role?

Data Team Leaders are the frontline managers and play a critical role in developing and leading individuals with diverse experiences and expertise spanning across several functions and subject matter areas.

The Bloomberg Municipal group is looking for a highly motivated and driven New Issues Team Leader to cover the data management, quality control, and data processes that drive our New Issues product. As a Team Leader, you will be directly responsible for managing, motivating, and developing a team of Data Professionals. You will set the team’s strategy and the product’s development roadmap by demonstrating good project management skills. In doing so, you’ll build a close partnership with Engineering, Core Product, Enterprise, and other various partners.

Attract, coach, develop, and retain a team of who are experts in their field, proven through (1) processing time-sensitive, high-quality data, (2) data analysis, (3) data management, and (4) project managementLead the team to partner with other data and core business groups, such as Product, Sales, News and Engineering to help develop and improve fit-for-purpose data that powers our products, including functionality across the product setMobilize the team to design and implement proactive data quality management supported by client-focused metrics and process observabilityDevelop data modeling and ETL skills within the team and collaborate with Engineering teams to develop a robust data product that can deliver value across multiple client-facing productsBuild processes and standards that enable delivery of data that meets or exceeds client SLAs and supports superior customer serviceDevelop the team's subject matter and data expertise, aligning to the current industry best practices and trends to be able to proactively spot gaps and opportunities for future innovationsCollaborate with global counterparts to evolve the workflow and operating procedures to ensure consistency in data quality across regions and productsParticipate in technical discussions and provide insights on system design, code reviews and other relevant areas as required by the teamSolid understanding of technologies (Python, Unix, Github, data visualization tools)

You’ll need to have:

A minimum of 3+ years of relevant leadership experience or strong relevant experience as an individual contributor, and relevant domain knowledgeTechnical experience to lead a team of Data Engineers and ensure high standards in production deliveriesUnderstanding of the Fixed Income Market, preferably the Municipal MarketBachelor's degree, preferably in STEM, Economics, a quantitative social science, or related business fieldDemonstrable experience in a Data Management related role such as Data Quality, Data Modeling and/or Data EngineeringDemonstrable experience with Data Analysis using tools such as Python, SQL, and/or TableauStrategic vision to align team goals around providing outstanding service to the business and other internal/external clients, and the ability to implement a business and people strategy which delivers on that visionExcellent communication skills, allowing you to clearly communicate business needs and to advocate on behalf of your team as well as communicate business and operational strategy to your teamProven ability to establish strong credibility and build influential relationships with multiple internal and external partners

Demonstrated experience interpreting fixed income documentation, understanding of finance and themes in the marketWell-honed listening skills, allowing you to draw understanding of your team and clients’ needsExperience in semantic technologies, or an understanding of their structuresUnderstanding of Data Governance and Data ManagementExperience using a Scrum Agile process
