$104,007 to $168,473WHO WE AREThe Office of the County Attorney (OCA) is the Chief Legal Officer of Montgomery County Government and conducts all its legal business.

OCA provides legal advice and services to County departments, agencies, boards, and commissions, as well as the County Council. Members of the office:Research legal issues and provide opinionsPrepare and present legislationNegotiate and prepare agreements and other documents on behalf of the CountyDraft resolutions and ordinancesAcquire and convey title to real propertyRepresent the County in court and before various administrative bodiesCollect various County fees and chargesPublish the County Charter, Code, Zoning Ordinance and Opinions

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Montgomery County, Maryland’s Office of the County Attorney is currently recruiting a full-time attorney for the Division of Zoning, Land Use & Economic Development.This division r epresents and advises the County Executive, the County Council, and various County departments, including: the Department of Housing and Community Affairs, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Department of Permitting Services and the Department of Libraries.

The attorney will provide legal advice to County departments concerning -Acquisition of real property.Disposition of real property.Land Development.Litigate eminent domain/condemnation actions.Draft and review contracts, deeds, easements and other documents related to the acquisition and disposition of property.This position requires the ability to attend meetings, both in person and via video conferencing, and to perform work at locations outside of the Rockville office.

The position may be filled at the Assistant County Attorney II, Grade N27 (salary: $84,599 - $136,359

) or Assistant County Attorney III, Grade N32 (salary: $104,007 - $168,473) level.

All Levels Education:

Graduation from an accredited university school of law.

Experience:

If filled as an Assistant County Attorney II

: Two (2) years of professional experience as an attorney, including trial experience.

If filled as an Assistant County Attorney III:

Thorough four (4) years of post-degree legal experience. The qualified applicant must have significant expertise in the following practice areas: real property, real property closings, zoning, and eminent domain. Litigation experience is required.

There are no preferred criteria.

All applicants will be reviewed by OHR for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated "Qualified," placed on the Eligible List, and may be considered for interview.

Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following:

Experience in real property, real property closings, zoning, and eminent domain.Litigation experience.
