The RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Corporate Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support and strategic guidance on a wide range of corporate matters from product development and claims support, sales, marketing and social media, compliance, operations, technology and other areas. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate law, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of effectively managing complex legal issues.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review commercial agreements and other contracts, including distribution agreements, supply agreements, and licensing agreements

Provide advice to and help assess risk with respect to product development and claims support, operations, sales, marketing and social media, and technology initiatives

Manage claims and assist with litigation matters

Provide legal advice on compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws, and oversee legal and regulatory aspects of data collection and use, privacy policies and attendant disclosures

Lead and actively participate within cross-functional business task forces to support the Company’s business objectives

Support day-to-day legal department functions, including facilitating trainings on legal topics, assisting with compliance requirements, and optimizing internal processes

Keep abreast of applicable legislative changes that impact the Company’s business

Support and manage outside counsel, as needed

Qualifications

Juris Doctorate from top-tier law school and admitted to practice or registered as In-House Counsel with the State Bar of California

At least 5+ years of law firm or in-house experience with a focus on corporate/commercial matters, personal care product claims and regulations, data privacy, and/or product marketing and advertising

Excellent judgment and analytical skills; attention to detail and efficiency

Excellent business sense and practical problem-solving skills

Experience in preparing, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements

Excellent project management skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or similar applications

Excellent oral and written communications skills;

Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives

Articulate, engaging, personable and proactive, willing to take initiative and seek out new challenges

High degree of professional ethics and integrity

Strong commitment to providing responsive, timely and superior work product

Ability to operate independently and with sound judgment to develop trust with business partners

Flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment with competing priorities

Public company experience a plus

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $150,000-$190,000. Actual compensation is based on many factors including but not limited to depth of experience, skill level, ability, knowledge, education, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.

The total rewards package for this position may also include base, annual incentive plan, benefits, retirement plan, equity, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
