Design Physicist
who is an exceptional physical scientist and engineer with a background in fields such as plasma physics, radiation transport, atomic physics, nuclear physics, physical chemistry, condensed matter physics, computational physics, or hydrodynamics. Our mission encompasses computational, theoretical, and experimental physics associated with the complex processes of national security challenges. These positions are in the Strategic Deterrence (SD) Directorate.Depending on your assignment, this position may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.These positions will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired.In this role, you willAssess, design and analyze complex physics interactions of relevance to our programs, creative/innovative methods.Present and disseminate innovative and highly complex research results at scientific conferences and peer-reviewed publications, in open and classified environments, internal and external to LLNL.Set broad research/project vision and strategy and influence technical direction for self and/or others.Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.Serve as mentor to staff and other mentors across the organization.Serve as organization spokesperson by Laboratory management and/or external advisor by sponsors including scientific or technical committees.Recognize and support plans to promote and foster a culture of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability within the workplace.Qualifications
