Mechanical Engineer

to our Rail Practice in our

Greenbelt, MD

office. As an influential member of our engineering team, you will work on the challenges facing our clients as they modernize and maintain critical passenger rail assets. While direct experience on rail vehicles is preferred, transferrable skills from similar industries will be considered as equivalent experience for this position.You bring to the role:A minimum of 10 years of engineering experienceKnowledge of electro-mechanical / mechanical systems (pneumatics, HVAC, brakes) on rail vehiclesProject management experience is preferred, but not requiredA professional engineering license (P.E.) is preferred, but not requiredExcellent analytical, written, and oral communication skillsStrong organizational skillsA desire to work with a team or in a lead role in a client-centered environmentA knack for multi-tasking and handling a variety of work assignments under deadlinesHow you will work:Solve client problems through design effortsShape the outcome of solutions through design reviews of submittals from vendorsContribute to technical working sessions to solve problems raised by clientsGet hands-on experience evaluating real prototype and first article equipment; guide design revisions through detailed descriptions of review findingsParticipate in quality assurance and manufacturing auditsWitness equipment undergoing qualification testing, including shock and vibration, environmental, and functional testingAssist with the conduct forensic investigation of failed components and equipment and reporting findings under the direction of senior staffDevelop technical specifications for mechanical equipmentBe a key resource as an engineer supporting your teammatesCollaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutionsDon't meet every single requirement?
