All while understanding that together we are even better.Schedule: Full Time Monday- Friday and occasionally on Saturdays if needed.Shift: 8:00am- 4:30pmThe role you’ll contribute:Under the general supervision of Laboratory leadership, the Laboratory Quality Manager is responsible for maintaining all regulatory and accreditation standards related to laboratory quality management. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Quality assurance and quality controlProficiency testingEmployee training and competencyProcess improvement through corrective and preventive actionDeviation/nonconformancesRisk/adverse eventsInternal/external assessmentsSafety and the physical environmentPatient safety and high reliabilityThe value you’ll bring to the team:Oversees quality management programs, which may include but are not limited to test utilization reviews; clinical intervention documentation audits; and clinical outcome assessments to maintain optimal clinical laboratory services and identify opportunities for growth.Proactively uses data analysis techniques to track, monitor, and communicate the operational, clinical quality, safety, and financial outcomes of assigned areas and to benchmark performance against internal targets and against local and national best practices.Leads and champions process-improvement initiatives and evaluates risks related to initiatives.Develops and deploys action plans to ensure process-improvement project sustainability and/or continued progress towards goals.Facilitates compliance of laboratory department with all healthcare regulatory requirements and applicable state and federal laws. Coordinates departmental preparedness activities and response to regulatory surveys/audits.Maintains a sustained record of contribution to the total body of knowledge in laboratory quality management practice through internal/external presentations, publications, formal review for a peer-reviewed medical or laboratory journal, and/or professional organization service as applicable to facility.Actively participates in the strategic planning for the department, including prioritization of initiatives, long-term practice model developments, and internal organizational and communication models.Develop and deploy the Laboratory Quality Management Plan and ensure that it is documented and accessible throughout the Laboratory.Creates, updates, maintains, and is responsible for policies and procedures related to Laboratory Quality Management.Assumes, when assigned in the absence of the Laboratory leadership, all delegations and responsibilities and performs in such a manner to ensure program continuity and overall functionality of the Department.Participates or assigns a designee as a member of hospital committees and/or teams as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the Laboratory Service Line.QualificationsLICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:Certified CytotechnologistHistotechnologistMedical TechnologistClinical Laboratory SupervisorIn licensure states, Laboratory Supervisor Level Licensure in appropriate specialty(ies) for the department or location assignment as applicable to the state -OR- In non-licensure states, must hold a national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT unless grandfathered per state requirementBachelors and 5+ years experience2 years Leadership ExperienceBachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.Two years' experience in a leadership role in a clinical laboratory.Five years' laboratory experience.Experience with regulatory and accreditation of laboratory operations.Preferred Qualifications:Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), (QI) accreditation, Certification by American Society for Quality (ASQ), or other equivalent certifications.REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:Continually assess workload and reassign and/or reprioritize projects within team.Maintains competent, skilled, and cooperative staff by coordinating training for new employees, coaching and mentoring of all employees, and routine professional development for all staff. Lead recruitment, interview, and hiring processes for staff in assigned areas.Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff.
