Job Description

The Team:

The Cash Commerce team is at the forefront of integrating everyday commerce activities into Cash App, aiming to bridge the gap between businesses and consumers. Our mission is to empower both businesses and consumers to thrive by providing scalable payment tools like Cash App Card and Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) with Afterpay. Our focus areas for 2024 and beyond include further integrating Afterpay into Cash App, scaling merchant discovery features, growing Cash App Pay, and fostering more local commerce by connecting our two largest ecosystems, Cash App and Square.

The Job:

The Cash App Client Engineering team is looking for an Engineering Manager to help us fundamentally change how people use Cash App today. We’re building a whole new way for people to use their money, expanding the reach of the Cash App network, and the person in this position will play a pivotal role in how we shape, deploy, and grow this new area. You will be personally responsible for the growth of the client engineers on this team; collaborating with your fellow product, design, and server partners on decisions that will directly impact this product; looking out at new technologies and evaluating how they could positively impact the way our customers interact with Cash App everywhere.

You will:

Manage and grow a team of product-focused mobile engineers.

Foster a human-centered culture that supports the team in growing together.

Provide both technical and career guidance for individuals on your team.

Create a tightly aligned and collaborative partnership between the client and server engineering teams, product, design, and product data science (e.g. shared roadmapping, prioritization, goals, etc.).

Contribute directly to quarterly and annual strategic plans.

Support the building of new, exciting functionality into an application designed to provide concrete value to our customers.

Lead and participate in technical, design, and product discussions with your fellow partners on the team, and with other partners throughout the organization.

Continue building a world-class team through hiring, coaching, and ongoing development.

Qualifications:

You have:

3+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineers (including providing feedback, investing in career growth, and growing teams).

Very strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills in an environment where precision and nuance matters.

A focus on the design of products from a customer perspective. We are here to make their lives easier, and want to ensure we’re putting our customers first through every piece of engineering.

Commitment to the continuous improvement of yourself, your teammates, and our software.

An excitement for sharing your own ideas, and openness to the ideas of others.

Experience building and maintaining client platforms (e.g., SDKs) while balancing requests from numerous internal or external stakeholders.

Ideally, experience with checkout or payment processing.

Additional Information:

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $207,900 - USD $311,900

Zone B: USD $197,500 - USD $296,300

Zone C: USD $187,100 - USD $280,700

Zone D: USD $176,700 - USD $265,100
