This sunny and family-friendly southern California design center, located in Newbury Park, has been attracting top professionals to join Skyworks elite team. As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will develop the most sophisticated RF front end module through Skyworks technical networks with collaborations with expert teams among all Skyworks design centers across the US and Japan. Over time, this position has the potential to advance from individual contributor to key leader who will own and execute critical portions of our product developments. This is a very exciting opportunity for someone who has ambition to build up professional growth and be part of Skyworks success. The qualified candidate needs to be a self-driven, committed team player and possess a full understanding of electromagnetics and RF circuits with details shown below.

Responsibilities

Adapt the best MCM design and full module Co-simulation practices.

Design semi-lumped RF matching networks in a compact environment.

Design Integrated Passive devices and RF multiplexers.

Designing BAW filters and stacks.

Perform lab testing, tuning, data review/analysis and use various RF test equipment.

Work with the Product Engineering team to review automatic test equipment reports and limits.

Provide detailed reports/slides for customer support and executive reviews.

Designing high-isolation laminate layouts to meet high density component module and able to meet stringent requirements such as de-sense and harmonics.

Participate and conduct design review meetings.

SAW/BAW Duplexers & High-Q RF Filters

Low Noise Amplifiers

Matching circuits

High-directivity couplers

Software tools include:

Ansoft HFSS

Agilent ADS and Momentum

Cadence Allegro and Virtuoso Layout

Hardware tools include:

Network Analyzers

Spectrum Analyzers

Signal Generators

Digital Receivers

Load-Pull/Tuners

RF Probe Stations

Required Experience and Skills

Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and 12 years’ experience;

Masters and 8 years’ experience; or

PhD and 5 years’ experience.

Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Experience with EM tools such as HFSS or Momentum.

Lab experience with network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and probe stations.

Knowledge of HBT, FET, CMOS devices.

Knowledge of RF switch design, power amplifier design, PA classes, PAE, and PA performance.

Knowledge of communication standards, such as LTE-A, WiFi, and the associated standards.

Knowledge of sensitivity, intermodulation, de-sense, ACLR, and EVM requirements.

Desired Experience and Skills:Experience in ADS, Virtuoso, and Allegro.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $74,800 - $135,400 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
