Formed in 1993 by the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, Y-Haven has helped thousands recover from addiction, secure permanent housing, and re-build their lives. Y-Haven offers healing and hope.POSITION SUMMARY:Shadows Level III Case Counselor to gain experience in the core functions of chemical dependency counseling. Assists the Y-Haven, Open Door, and Rising Hope Case Counselors with assessment, treatment planning, case management, individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, medication monitoring, and family engagement, and assists the Y-Haven administration with quality assurance activities, data gathering, and reporting.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Enhance knowledge of general Social Work and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counseling by providing support to direct service staff.Enhance knowledge of general Social Work and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counseling by providing program evaluation support to the Y-Haven leadership team.Enhance knowledge of general Social Work and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counseling by practicing direct clinical services skills.QUALIFICATIONS:Education:High School Diploma or GEDBachelor’s degree in social work or a related field preferred.Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field.License/Credentials:CDCA, CIT or SWTExperience:Previous experience working in an addiction treatment center preferred.Technical Skills and Knowledge:Must have basic computer skills, using Microsoft Office applications.Must have strong writing skills.Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound. A frequent amount of standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and bending.Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
