Ability to lift and install server equipment as neededOverview:We are seeking a skilled Server Administrator to join our IT team in Anchorage, AK. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, and virtualization environments. This role involves ensuring the security, stability, and performance of our server infrastructure while supporting business operations.Duties:Server Management: Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, operating systems, and software applications. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.Network Administration: Manage network services including DNS, DHCP, and VPN. Ensure network security and optimize performance.Security: Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and regular system updates. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.Backup & Recovery: Develop and maintain backup strategies for server data. Ensure data recovery processes are effective and regularly tested.Virtualization: Manage and maintain virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to ensure efficient resource utilization and high availability.Monitoring & Reporting: Implement and utilize monitoring tools to ensure system uptime and performance. Generate regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and resource usage.Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to other IT staff and end-users. Assist with troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues.Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.Compliance: Ensure all server systems comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. Stay updated on the latest industry trends and best practices.Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in server administration or a related role.Certifications:Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, CompTIA Server+, or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) are highly desirable.Technical Skills:Proficiency with Windows and Linux server environments.Experience with server virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).Knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, and security best practices.Familiarity with backup and recovery tools and techniques.Experience with monitoring and logging tools.Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation tasks.Soft Skills:Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Excellent communication and documentation skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.CTG does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee based recruitment services for this role.To Apply:To be considered, please apply directly to this requisition using the link provided .
