The Arapahoe Basin Base Area Operations has a lot of independence. We cover a lot of ground, run a variety of machines, and are fortunate to interact with every ski area department. Not to mention the fun we have of meeting and chatting with people from every part of the world, all while being outside in the fresh Rocky Mountain air!

Shuttle drivers interact with a wide variety of people each day. Guests are from every part of the world and have differing experience levels in the sport of skiing and riding. Drivers must be prepared to answer many different questions about Arapahoe Basin! This role is responsible for driving Arapahoe Basin parking lot shuttle vans in a safe and knowledgeable way. Drivers are often the first ski area employees to interact with guests and employees, so being friendly and knowledgeable about trails, events and activities is essential.

*Shifts for this position start as early as 5am and end as late as 8pm. Both morning and evening shifts are available for discussion.*

Operating shuttle vans is a safe mannerFamiliar with the shuttle routes and stopsKnowledgeable about the Summit Stage schedule and nearby stopsUnderstands fueling procedure and can interact with Vehicle mechanics to communicate maintenance needsIs up to date with ski area terrain offerings, trail openings, events and Food and beverage offeringsPerform other duties as assignedRequirements

Education Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalentExperience Requirements:

Driving experience with a former employer in a company settingExperience driving larger vehicles, box trucks or shuttle busesExperience driving in 4wd environmentFamiliar with concept of down shifting during downhill descentsSkills Required:

Driving large vehicles in a high elevation, snowy environmentMountain driving skills combined with a patient and calm driving style will deliver the best experience for the guestsDrivers should be outgoing and forthcoming with news on the mountain and what to expect for the dayPhysical Requirements:

Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all timesAbility to sit, stand, and navigate stairsAbility to be seated while driving for up to 8 hours per dayCan lift up to 25 poundsAbility to get into and out of the shuttle many times per day to assist guests with loading and unloadingMust have a reliable vehicle that can to A-Basin before the roads are plowedOther Requirements:

Must be available weekends and some holidays21 years of age and 5 years of clean driving experiencePass a Motor Vehicle Record background checkWork Environment:

This position will work outdoors in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. There can be times of low visibility, cold temperatures, and varying road conditions.
