PROGRAM SUMMARY:PACE is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Full-time Weatherization Technical Support Specialist to join the Energy & Environmental Services Department and team! This is a wonderful opportunity for an individual looking to start or advance their career in a well-established organization while also making an impact in the community. PACE Energy and Environmental Services provides Home Energy Assistance, Weatherization and other services to low-income residents of the greater Los Angeles area. These programs provide utility bill assistance and install measures to help improve the energy efficiency, safety and comfort of eligible homeowners or renters. The new employee will be hired under a contract between PACE and the State of California Department of Community Services and Development (CSD) to implement programs of Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), the Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and other State/Federal or private investor utility company programs.II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:Under the guidance of the Field Supervisor, the indvidiual hired shall perform the following duties: Respond to Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP) Emergency Heating and Cooling Services (EHCS) and Severe Energy Assistance and Transportation Services (SWEATS) by performing mitigation action/s to resolve the hazardous situation/s. Provide client/s with appropriate education and information concerning indoor air quality and action/s to prevent the development of hazardous indoor air. Deliver and set-up portable loan devices and appliances to provide temporary relief and/or control, regulate and maintain safe temperature inside the home. Pick-up and inspect portable loaned devices and appliances from client's home and ensure that these are returned in good working condition. Provide technical assistance/hands-on training to inhouse and subcontractor crews regarding proper installation of measures and "tricks of the trade" learned over the years. Act appropriately to resolve client's issues about installed measures in their home/s. Correctly handle and provide restorative action on installation/s deemed as "fails" to make these compliant/pass inspection/s. Perform minor Heating Ventilation & Air Cooling (HVAC) measures (example: plugging gas leaks, venting and related work), as appropriate. Act as back up installer when needed. Assist in the inventory of materials, supplies, tools and equipment on a daily basis. Help inspect company vehicles to ensure these are safe, orderly and compliant to safety and PACE vehicles maintenance regulations and guidelines. Pick-up and deliver special order materials to field crews. Perform outreach activities such as deliver postcards, deliver and pick up of applications, inform clients about energy efficiency services and benefits, etc. Work after hours and/on weekend assignments, as needed. Execute other related duties that may be assigned from time to time. There is a possibility that these duties may become a permanent part of the job.III. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS: Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent At least 10 years of hands-on experience in construction and/or weatherization, preferred Computer literate and has at least basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs Must attend and pass required online and field training courses Able to lift and/or push up to 250 pounds with appropriate equipment provided Must be able to work in confined spaces and in high temperature conditions Must be physically fit to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) when performing work functions as required by the program Basic Weatherization, CAS (Combustion Appliance Safety), Blower Door and Duct Blaster Training Certificates, a plus Experience in installing solar thermal and/or solar photovoltaic panels, a plus Able to complete daily reports in a timely manner, using analytical and mathematical calculations Able to work independently and/or as part of a teamIV. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must pass employment background verification and a pre-employment physical examination that includes drug and alcohol testing. Must pass respiratory screening exam, which is renewed annually Must have a current and valid California Driver's License, access to reliable transportation and adequate automobile insurance coverage for the duration of employment with PACE. Must be able to pass State of CA DMV's Motor Vehicle Report without any issues/concerns in order to be added as an authorized driver of PACE vehicles and be added in PACE's vehicle insurance policy.
