1137Position Overview:

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Dean of Students, this position is an integral part of the Student Affairs team that promotes a campus environment that is inclusive, supportive and respectful of all community members. The Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in facilitating training programs for the Merrimack College community, supervising Unity House coordinators and student employees, and ensuring the smooth operation of the Unity House. The ideal candidate will also assist in the development of a comprehensive programming calendar and support additional programming efforts across the division.

Position Responsibilities:Supervise the Unity House coordinators and student employees, providing guidance and support in managing daily operations and coordination of programming that ensures the effective functioning of the Unity House. This includes the hiring, training, and supervision of these student employees supporting these initiatives.Assist in campus wide training in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion for undergraduates and graduate students. These trainings include but are not limited to the Diversity Badging program, Safe Zone training, Warrior’s Impact, and OrientationDevelop and coordinate a diverse and engaging programming calendar that meets the needs of the Merrimack College community. This will be in conjunction with the support and assistance of the Unity House student staff. This may include supporting on and off campus events, daytime activities, some evenings and weekends.Create and facilitate campus wide events and programs open to the entire Merrimack community that will foster intercultural awareness.Serve as a point of contact for the Unity House regarding space reservations, maintaining maintenance of the space, and overseeing access.Collaborate with campus partners on campus wide programming initiatives to support retention of students.Serve as a representative and campus liaison for Intercultural Initiatives and the Unity House and work to collaborate with other offices on campus. These offices include but are not limited to Resident Life, Orientation, Admissions, Career Center and Office of Student Involvement.Assist in presenting and facilitating sessions at Admissions, Orientation and other signature events of Merrimack College such as Orientation Days, Open House and Admitted Student DaysServe as a liaison to the Admissions Office to support International students with any compliance status obligationsServe on Student Affairs Divisional and College committees as assignedConduct ongoing assessments of all Intercultural Initiatives and Unity House programs and events.Other duties as assignedPosition Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs or similar program. 1-3 years’ experience working in higher educationCommitment to and demonstrated ability to integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion issues into work with diverse student populations in both individual and group settings.Commitment to and experience with diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and programming, preferably in a higher education setting.Exceptional in person and written customer service as the first point of escalation in the office and on the phone.Strong interpersonal skills.Ability to manage competing demands in a calm and friendly manner.Ability to work independently and use discretion and independent judgment in decision making.Availability to work a flexible work schedule that could sometimes include nights and weekend responsibilities.Advanced Computer Skills (Microsoft Office word, excel, publisher).
