DutiesAs a Supervisory Criminal Investigator (SAC) for Cyber Investigations & National Case Support (CINCS)-Office of Investigations, you will be responsible for the following:Serves as a Supervisory Criminal Investigator responsible for providing technical direction and guidance to a team performing complex and time sensitive investigations and activities.Makes recommendations on investigative programs, goals, and objectives, and/or change in functions.Establishes, coordinates, and maintains relationships with the Department and other Federal agencies, and private sector activities regarding investigative operations and matters.Assigns work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements, and the capabilities of employees.Click here for the OPM Salaries and Wages to calculate locality pay. A signed Mobility Agreement is required.Incumbent must meet requirements for training and qualification with firearms. QualificationsYou must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date (08/14/2024) of this announcement.In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Provide course descriptions as necessary.Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience.For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting allof the following:Lead an investigative team relative to criminal investigations of critical and sensitive importance by reviewing and evaluating allegations, information, and evidence to recommend appropriate investigative activity.Document, brief, and convey investigative information to external and internal customers.Lead, plan, and/or coordinate investigative activities (i.e., search or arrest warrants) to gather evidence for an investigation.Conduct analysis of grand jury material and joint operations with other Federal law enforcement agencies to establish facts or evidence.Volunteer Experience: "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Time-in-Grade: Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service). Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appt.Education There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level(s) of this announcement.Additional informationThe minimum age for initial appointment to a law enforcement position is 21, and the maximum age is 37. (The date immediately preceding an applicant's 37th birthday is the final date for selection). This requirement does not apply to preference eligible veterans, or if you served in another Federal civilian (not military) law enforcement position covered by special civil service retirement provisions.Subject to drug testing, must test negative prior to being appointed, and will be subject to random testing thereafter. Failure to pass subsequent tests could result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the Federal service.Must successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center's Basic Criminal Investigator Training Program. Applicants who have previously completed the training program are exempt.This position is covered under the provisions of the Lautenberg Amendment "Suitability to Possess Firearms and Ammunition." The selectee must successfully and safely qualify with a firearm; failure to do so may result in removal from the position.Criminal Investigators are subject to frequent travel and may be reassigned to a different duty location throughout the U.S. dependent upon program needs; a signed mobility agreement is required. Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP): LEAP is approved to compensate employees for unscheduled duty in excess of the 40-hour workweek.
