We started with pastries handmade by Lois and Lloyd Martin produced inside of a garage and we have boomed into a multi-facility company where our many products are produced by machines and shipped domestically and internationally. Summary: As a member of the Martin’s Family, a Purchasing Intern compiles information and records to prepare purchase orders for procurement of material by performing the following duties. Performs cycle counts, makes adjustments to inventory as needed, troubleshoots Warehouse Management System issues; liaison between Accounting, Purchasing, and Receiving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews requisitions for clarity and accuracy, obtains current quotes from suppliers and processes requisitions to purchase orders
Manages approval workflow of purchase orders, ensuring appropriate parties review and approve all purchases prior to transmission of PO to supplier
Communicates with Supplier regarding anticipated delivery, stock concerns and approved alternate items when needed
Monitors past due or partially received POs to ensure all items are received prior to payment
Works with accounting to resolve supplier payment discrepancies and issues
Monitors and projects ingredient usage, orders ingredients and packaging as needed to maintain appropriate operating quantities at all times
Maintains electronic document database, ensuring appropriate documentation is filed and current at all times
Provides customer service to internal and external stakeholders to ensure proper assistance is provided in procuring and delivering requisite goods and services
Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
Adheres to safety, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED;
Currently attending an accredited university or college majoring in Supply Chain or related field.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must display basic computer skills, including a basic ability to use Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn to use the department’s asset management software (Oracle).
