Scope of Position/Position SummaryThe Administrative Fellowship at The James Cancer Center is a

one-year program , that provides on-the-job training in the skills and responsibilities required of a cancer center administrator in a major academic health system. Reporting directly to the Associate Executive Director (AED) of The James Cancer Center, and collaboratively to the Senior Leadership Team, the Administrative Fellow assumes increasing levels of responsibility by working with administrators and staff at all levels of the organization.Structure of the FellowshipThe initial phase of the Fellowship program consists of rotations throughout the cancer hospital and outpatient centers designed to educate and orient the Fellow to the functions and structure of the organization. The Fellow will rotate with each member of the leadership team. The Fellow will have the chance to meet with department managers, and key faculty; to participate in committee meetings and councils; to shadow leaders at the highest level of the organization; and to work on projects and tasks. Each rotation provides a link between a departments role/function and relationship to other departments. The rotation experience allows the Fellow to experience and observe different managerial styles and develop a better understanding of the issues, challenges, and opportunities cancer hospitals face today.After rotations, the Fellow is encouraged to use their remaining appointment to focus on projects and management experience based on the priorities of The James Cancer Center and the interests and growth opportunities for the Fellow. Projects may include, but are not limited to:Program design and implementationPolicy evaluation and procedure developmentOperational processes and workflow analysisStaff and line supportFinancial impact and budget reviewCompliance and regulatory assessmentProject management or strategy developmentExperiential ModelThe Fellows role is an active, participatory one. The Fellow attends all appropriate meetings and is involved in committee work. The feature that most distinguishes this program is the level of hands-on experience. The Fellow is an active participant in day-to-day administrative operations. The opportunities are unlimited. The individuals who complete an administrative fellowship at The James Cancer Center are in a unique position to enter the field of healthcare administration and begin a vibrant career by taking advantage of their cancer specific experience. These responsibilities and duties require the use of discretion, strict confidentiality in the handling of sensitive information, independent judgment, responsibility, and flexibility. The Fellow must be able to quickly learn new concepts and be extremely detail oriented. The Fellow will be a representative of The James Cancer Center and should exemplify Buckeye core values.Minimum QualificationsMust have obtained a graduate degree (MHA, MHSA, MBA, MPH, or equivalent) between July 1, 2025 and July 1, 2026.Graduate school GPA of 3.5 or higher.Excellent ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral presentation at all levels with a professional demeanor.Personal statement to include career goals, reason for application, and what you hope to gain from this fellowshipGraduate School Transcript(s); Must be official document(s), andmust be uploaded to the workday portal at the time of application submission by September 27, 2024.2 Letters of Recommendation; (1) from Graduate Program Director/Advisor
