Description

The purpose of this class is to support, implement, design and secure services for virtual systems across the County's entire enterprise.Job Responsibilities

Designs, deploys, manages and serves as primary expert for the VMWare and server environments.Installs, tests, configures, secures, manages and monitors VMWare clusters across multiple data centers.Supervises storage arrays handling VDI and VM workloads across entire virtual infrastructure.Collaborates with the network and security teams to provision and safeguard the security of virtual network fabric and distributed switches.Administers, monitors, and configures VMWare Horizon systems and virtualized application packages.Utilizes machine management to scale servers and services for both physical and virtual environments.Manage, deploy, troubleshoot and support physical and virtual servers.Sets up POC and productions solutions.Utilizing the Change Management process, applies changes and upgrades to the Active Directory environment.Works with cross-functional teams to design and implement virtual solutions for the deployment of applications.Creates processes and procedures for building new and upgrading servers, and completing routine, repeatable tasks.Develops comprehensive test cases to include scenarios for normal and degraded operations.Coordinates within functional and cross-functional teams to apply expertise in solving problems, growing capabilities and driving initiatives.Participates in disaster planning, preparation, recovery, and testing as required.Troubleshoots issues with vendors; evaluate vendor products, services, and suggestions.Provides best practice advice and guidance to management and across the enterprise.Provides after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well occasional weekend maintenance.Performs related work as assigned.Minimum Qualifications

Requires Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or related major, or equivalent experience.Requires four years of experience providing design, management and support in VMWare, server administration or closely related experience.Expert-level experience with vSphere components and networking concepts.Expert-level experience with Windows Servers and operating systems.Experience with server chassis technology such as Cisco UCS.Physical Demands/Work Environment:Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping.
