Job Description

The Property Claims Unit Manager manages a team of claim professionals the claim processing team, provides inputs and assists in preparation of staff performance evaluations and oversight, directs functional claims on Operations and Technology issues. The role promotes is responsible for compliance with standard operating procedures in in all aspects of claims processing and monitors management of pending claims to ensure appropriate claim resolution. timely payments. The role also extends support to distribute workload, obtains necessary state licenses, and provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Drives the consistent delivery of overall claims practices, resources, tools and performance within functional area.
  • Drives strategic results through use of appropriate vendor and process solutions and applications.
  • Ensures that appropriate investigations are performed, and all relevant facts obtained to determine coverage, liability, compensability, and damages.
  • Ensures claim file exposures are recognized and escalated appropriately. Develops effective working relationships with business partners and leaders to create open channels of communication, stays current and aligned with department wide initiatives, priorities, and goals.
  • Monitors claims management to ensure timely payments, assists team members with their pending claims and claims issues as needed, processes financial transactions to include loss and expense payments, stop payments, voids and re issuance of payments.
  • Collaborates with internal and external business partners, provides assistance or input when needed to support Claims business strategies and processes.
  • Performs talent management responsibilities including employee selection, performance management, coaching, and development.
  • Manages priorities, workload distribution, hybrid workforce, and removes barriers that impede progress.
  • Supports identification, registration, prioritization, and resolution of vendor risk incidents.
  • Examines, analyzes, and presents budget, staffing, expense management and senior management reporting.
  • Provides oversight on employee matters on engagement and training to achieve desired goals and position objectives, maintains a collaborative team focused on high quality client services and ensures claims staff is current with claims knowledge.
  • Monitors ongoing performance utilizing objective data and subjective observations to measure individual and team performance results and drives process and quality improvements.
  • Collaborates with team to identify training needs, partners with Westfield University to design, develop, and deliver property training programs to claims professionals.
  • Promotes compliance with standard operating procedures in claims adjusting and processing and periodically reviews exposures and pending inventory to ensure claims are assigned to personnel with sufficient experience.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Claims Handling experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication or any field and/or commensurate work experience.
  • 25% travel required
